Student Affairs plays a critical role in providing University of Illinois students the college experience through a comprehensive range of programs and services that support their academic success, health, and well-being. Departments in Student Affairs offer essential services such as career exploration, housing, dining, health, and counseling to meet the needs of our diverse student population.

Student Affairs is ideally positioned to complement the University’s educational mission, with services and programs established, and resources allocated to work directly towards the enhancement of student learning and development.

Student Affairs is organized in the following areas:

Advancement & Alumni Engagement

The Office of Student Affairs Advancement works with our donors, alumni, and friends to bring support to the programs and services that provide students an extraordinary Illinois Experience. They also work with Student Affairs Advisory Council members, Campus Advancement, and the University of Illinois Foundation to match donors with Student Affairs programs that are meaningful to them.

Assessment and Planning

Assessment and Planning is charged to deliver services that support Student Affairs departments and University partners on assessment and planning needs.

Auxiliary, Health & Wellbeing

Auxiliary, Health and Wellbeing (AHW) delivers essential student services, providing housing, dining, health, and counseling services. Units in AHW include the Illini Union, Housing, McKinley Health Center, Counseling Center, and Campus Recreation.

Budget and Finance

Budget and Finance is charged to deliver services that support Student Affairs departments on their budget and resource planning needs.

Dean of Students

The Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS) seeks to facilitate the integration of the academic experience of students with all aspects of university and student life. The office facilitates interactions among students, faculty, and staff to promote a campus climate that supports students' academic success and their personal and professional development. Units reporting to ODOS include Student Assistance Center, Office of Student Conflict Resolution, Off Campus Community Living, and Student Legal Services.

Human Resources

Human Resources is charged to deliver services that support Student Affairs departments on human resource management matters.

Inclusion and Intercultural Relations

The Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations (OIIR) is built around the mission to support identity development of underrepresented students as well as providing student social justice education and delivering cultural developmental services.

Marketing and Communications

Director of Marketing and Communications advises the Vice Chancellor on marketing and communications matters and collaborates with Public Affairs on crisis communication.

Student Success and Engagement

Student Success & Engagement (SSE) units provide support for students to reach their personal, academic, and professional goals through curricular and co-curricular engagement opportunities. Units included under SSE are the Career Center, Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, Illinois Leadership Center, Illinois Student Government, Office of Minority Student Affairs, New Student Programs, Student Engagement, and Testing Center.
