The Student Affairs Outstanding Assessment Award promotes a culture of assessment within Student Affairs through recognition of exemplary assessment projects.

Recognized projects will demonstrate clarity of purpose, methods/metrics, results, incorporation of results, and dissemination of results to stakeholders and/or actions taken as a result of conducting the project.

Student Affairs Recognition of Outstanding Assessment Projects

Criteria for Evaluating Nominations

1) EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (possible points: 3; character limit: 4,500)

  • Provides a concise description of assessment 

2) PURPOSE/GOALS (possible points: 3 per question - 6 maximum; character limit: 3,000)

  • Purpose is clearly stated and connected to: professional standards, best practices, another set of guiding principles, internal and/or external benchmarks
  • Addresses strategic goals of campus, Student Affairs, or unit

3) METHODS (possible points: 3 per question - 6 maximum; character limit: 3,000)

  • Are the methods clearly described? Include why the methods were chosen.
  • Are the measures or instrument included in the supplementary material?

4) PRIMARY RESULTS and INTERPRETATION (possible points: 3 per question - 6 maximum; character limit: 3,000)

  • Do the results address the purpose of assessment?
  • Are the interpretation of results clearly stated?

5) CONCLUSIONS and FUTURE PLANS (possible points: 3 per question - 6 maximum; character limit: 3,000)

  • How are the results disseminated?
  • Is it clearly stated how the assessment project will/has inform(ed) future programs, services, best practices and/or assessment projects?

6) OVERALL QUALITY OF SUBMISSION (possible points: 3)

  • Is the submission well written, focused, comprehensive and specific?

RATING SCALE (highest total possible points:  30)
Each of the criteria will be ranked on a 3-point rating scale of 0-3.
(0=not present; 1=lacks details; 2=some details; 3=very detailed)

2024 Award Information

  • Nominations will open on February 5th, 2024 and the deadline for submissions is March 8th, 2024 at 11:59 PM (CST).
