Meet Kenneth Ballom
Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
Dean of Students
Dean Ken Ballom was appointed Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students at the University of Illinois in 2008. Dean Ballom has over 26 years of experience in Student Affairs and previously served as Dean of Students at the University of North Texas from 1995 until 2008. He is an alumna of Texas A&M-Commerce where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Counseling and master’s in College Student Personnel Administration from Western Illinois University. Dean Ballom provides leadership and administrative oversight for the following departments: the Office of the Dean of Students, which includes: Emergency Dean, New Student Programs, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, Illinois Leadership Center, Student Tenant Union, Testing Center, Campus and Community Student Services, Student Legal Services, and Veteran Student Services. Additionally, he also oversees The Career Center, Counseling Center, Office of Minority Student Affairs, and Student Conflict Resolution.
Dean Ken Ballom has extensive experience in leadership in the field of higher education to Illinois and also promotes an environment that expands students’ world views and supports them in achieving their current and future goals. Student Affairs and the Office of Dean of Students works closely with Academic Affairs to serve our students.
