Student Fee Advisory Committee

In addition to reviewing and advising the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs regarding the Service Fee, Health Fee and Housing Room and Board Rates, the SFAC will review the components of the Student Initiated Fee and make recommendations to the Vice Chancellor relevant to increases, decreases or no change in the fee amounts. 

To the extent possible, the review of the components of the Student Initiated Fee will be completed in tandem with the renewal referendums outlined in the Student Code.  SFAC recommendations will go to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs for consideration. The recommendations of SFAC and the Vice Chancellor will be presented to the Chancellor. 

An SFAC recommendation to initiate or discontinue a component of the Student Initiated Fee must be affirmed by student referendum. 

 

Roster

  • The SFAC shall be composed of the following individuals:
  • Six (6) Undergraduate Students, nominated by the Illinois Student Senate
  • Two (2) Graduate Students, nominated by the Illinois Student Senate
  • Two (2) At-Large Students nominated by the Illinois Student Senate
  • One staff member appointed by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
  • The Treasurer of Illinois Student Senate, ex-officio
  • Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Director of Auxiliary Services, Chair

 

Time Commitment

This committee’s work is concentrated in the first four to six of the fall semester. SAFC meets daily during the first three weeks of classes (Monday-Friday) from 3 - 5 p.m. Other meetings are held as needed throughout the school year, on average once a month. Each member is to come prepared by reading materials in advance.
