Wellness Wednesday

Join your Student Affairs colleagues online every Wednesday from Noon-1:00 PM for body, mind, and spiritual restorative activities. Check out the offerings below. New topics will be added as they are identified. Sessions will be recorded (when possible) and placed on this webpage for future viewing.

If you cannot join us, please be sure to find time in your schedule, whenever that may be, to make your wellbeing a top priority. Setting aside as little as an hour a week can go a long way in helping to reduce the stresses and anxiety we face as Student Affairs professionals.

Wellbeing Resources for Employees:

12 Self- and Team-Care Tips for Individuals and Teams

  1. End the day together on the phone for 30 minutes to talk about the day and each other’s lives just to keep connected.
  2. Get together more often than you used to ensure people stay connected.
  3. Help your teammates remember what your “why” is and plan for the future by setting mini milestones towards a post-COVID light at the end of the tunnel to help keep spirits and moral going.
  4. Send gift cards to people to show your appreciation.
  5. Participate in a sport like tennis and golf…both allow you to easily social distance!
  6. Make meetings better – play music before the meeting, add in fun polls, and more. See ILC for recommendations on making Zoom calls better.
  7. Make “me” time a priority – participate in morning workouts, meditation, and gratitude exercises.
  8. Take a “staycation” or mini vacation – travel to places within a drivable distance to enjoy social distanced activities.
  9. Send written notes and emails to uplift and thank your team as well as celebrate work anniversaries.
  10. Conduct “happy hour socials over ZOOM/games over ZOOM.”
  11. Try to spend as much time outdoors as possible.
  12. Theme your meetings – have everyone wear apparel from their favorite sports team or a fun hat, or bring their pet to the meeting, or show up representing decade-specific garb.
