Your Gift Makes A Difference
When you consider making a gift to Student Affairs, you are really making a difference for today's Illinois students. Your gift advances the programs we offer and the services we provide. Each dollar extends the care and support we can offer students through housing options, lifestyle amenities, recreational facilities and much more.
Your gifts help:
- Ensure University Housing can provide round the clock support for students in 37 dorms across campus
- Train R.A.s to offer advice, encouragement and direction.
- Organize activities help students meet and acclimate to campus life.
- Provide Living and Learning Communities which offer unique opportunities for students who are looking for alternative educational lifestyles.
- Promotes
Greek and Sorority Affairs which offers students community alliances, shared common values and lifelong relationships.
With over 41,000 students on campus, the Student Affairs units touch their lives in different ways, offering a quiet place to study at the Illini Union, health resources and education at McKinley Health Center, and counseling and encouragement from the Counseling Center in times of need. When conflict arises, the Office for Student Conflict Resolution steps in and helps create mutual understanding and respect.
Health/Wellness
Campus Recreation offers intramural sports, swimming, outdoor adventures, ice skating and more for today's Illinois students and the campus at-large. When you give to the Student Affairs Annual Fund, you can know that you support the latest enhancements in the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) including a 34-foot climbing wall, 151-seat auditorium, instructional kitchen, massage rooms and wellness resource center. Campus Rec isn't the only fitness option: University Housing has additional fitness areas and equipment in the dorms, close to home for students.
Leadership/Career Development
Leadership and teambuilding skills are immensely important in helping students define their future goals and aspirations-before they leave campus. By giving to the Illinois Leadership Center, you can provide academic and non-academic programming that helps students achieve personal awareness, self-motivation, and teambuilding initiatives. The Career Center helps students hone their resume, offering mock interviews and offering career exploration workshops and guidance.
Diversity
The Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Relations represents the diversity of the campus, supporting the cultural centers: Asian American Cultural Center; Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center; La Casa Cultural Latina; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Resource Center; and the Native American House. It also supports the Women's Resources Center and provides a Diversity Education component to work with campus-wide initiatives in order to create more understanding and acceptance of diversity at Illinois. Your gifts to these entities provides valuable programming and assistance that helps our students thrive and excel, celebrating the rich cultures brought together at Illinois.
Outside the Classroom
With your financial assistance, Student Affairs offers activities and opportunities for students after classes, after the weekdays, and even after graduation. When the class day is over, the campus is still alive with activities that fill students' time. The Illini Union and the Illini Union Board oversees 1,200 registered student organizations and thousands of students with special interest activities and responsibilities. The Union building itself is considered the living room of the campus, with study spaces and meeting places for any and all. With your help, the Office of Volunteer Programs gives students the chance to connect locally with community endeavors that provided necessary and invaluable support.
