I-Advance Program for Students

Student Affairs Advancement
Many of the resources, student programs, and academic units that we have on campus would not be here today without the generous gifts made by University of Illinois alumni. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to maintain lasting relationships with these donors. It is essential that the Advancement staff, as well as other departments, makes sure that donors are satisfied and are being reassured that their gift to the University of Illinois is making a difference. There is no better way to do this than by having direct contact with a University of Illinois student, who has the chance to experience donors’ generosity firsthand.
What is I-Advance?
The students involved in this program will make phone calls to Student Affairs donors to thank them for their gifts to the University, and explain ways in which they have been – or could be – affected by their gifts. They will attend certain donor/alumni events, such as Foundation Weekend, Student Affairs Reunion (Homecoming), and other occasions that are connected to different units within Student Affairs, giving them an opportunity to socialize with donors. Other duties of these students can include help in creating the annual report and having thank-a-thons to aid in stewardship efforts, as well as any other duties that may require their assistance with donor relations.
What's in it for Me?
Student Affairs Advancement wants to give students the opportunity to be a part of an elite organization where they can gain more knowledge of Student Affairs, Advancement and fundraising principles, increase donor and alumni relations, and be inspired to become active alumni.
Being a part of I-Advance will allow you to network with many active alumni, gain leadership experience, and it will look great on a resume!
