Diversity & Social Justice Education Programs (DSJEP)

Welcome to OIIR’s Diversity and Social Justice Education Programs. We are excited to offer a variety of programs that seek to improve campus climate by providing transformative learning experiences. We believe that students need to be prepared to work and live in a diverse society and global marketplace. Our programs provide opportunities for students to gain the knowledge and skills about various dimensions of diversity and intersections of identities necessary for effectively communicating across differences and participating in a diverse workforce.

Our goals are to challenge students to explore and reflect on their own and others’ perspectives, whilelearning to apply fair-minded thinking methods in their professional and interpersonal lives. To achieve this, our programs create safe spaces for differing opinions and perspectives to be expressed through a dialogue process.

This website includes information about the courses, workshops and trainings we offer.  We welcome you to explore this site and learn more about what OIIR has to offer students at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana campus.

Come, learn and have fun with us on this journey.

Sincerely,

OIIR’s Diversity and Social Justice Education Programs’ staff,

Teryl Brewster, Joycelyn Landrum-Brown, Joe Minarik, and Ross Wantland
