Asian American Cultural Center

Centrally located on campus half a block east of the Quad and on the same block as several other cultural centers and ethnic studies programs, the Asian American Cultural Center is located at 1210 West Nevada Street in Urbana. With a $1.3 million construction budget, the 6800 square feet facility is the largest of its kind in the Midwest. The entire facility meets ADA standards for accessibility and has wireless Internet connection. It is connected to the Asian American Studies Program building, which is one of the largest programs of its kind in the Midwest.

 

LoungeLounge

The Lounge is an area to study, relax, or watch television. It is also used as a programming space for social events, speaker receptions, coffeehouses, cultural demonstrations, and other special events.

 

 

 

 

KitchenKitchen

The Kitchen is used as preparation space for food events, receptions, and fundraisers. It is fully equipped with appliances, cookware, and serving supplies. It opens to the lounge for buffet style serving.

 

 

 

 

Conference RoomConference Room

The Conference Room is shared with the Asian American Studies Program and is used for speaker presentations, meetings, and film showings. It can be reserved for evenings and weekends for meetings and other activities.

 

 

 

Resource RoomResource Room

The Resource Room is used for small group meetings, special projects, and language classes. It also contains an archive for Asian American student organizations and an extensive collection of books, magazines, music, and videos.

 

 

 

Activities OfficeActivities Office

The Activities Office an open office for students to study, work on projects, or have informal meetings. Computers are available for the public and additional resources such as photocopiers, printers, and mailboxes are available for affiliate organizations.

 

 

 

BasementBasement

The unfinished basement has a storage closet and wide-open space that is used for art exhibits, and various dance practices.
