The charge of the Professional Development Committee is to foster the mission of Student Affairs by encouraging and enabling the professional growth and development of Student Affairs staff. Utilizing systematic needs assessment, the Committee plans and conducts developmental training and activities, including the annual New Staff Orientation. The Committee is further charged with advising and making recommendations to the Vice Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellors on improving developmental training and activities.

12 representatives from Student Affairs Departments

Note: Members are generally appointed to this committee by their unit based upon job responsibility; please check with your department head before selecting this committee as one of your choices for the annual appointment process.

Time Commitment

The committee meets monthly for two hours (no meetings in February, June, July, or August). A full-day retreat is held in June, and a half-day retreat is held in February. In addition, each committee member facilitates one of the FOCUS activities, which is a one-time, additional four-hour commitment.
