Student Organization Resource Fee Board
The SORF Board makes recommendations on allocations of the SORF fee, a $12-per-semester refundable fee paid by students. Income from the SORF fee is used to fund the Student Legal Service, the Tenant Union, and programs of registered student organizations. The majority of the SORF Board’s time is spent reviewing and making recommendations on applications for funding from registered student organizations for programs and organizational expenses. Administrative support is provided by the Illini Union.The SORF Board is elected during the student body elections each Spring.

2 graduate/professional student members
3 faculty/staff members
2 ex officio members (Director of Accounting or designee; VCSA designee)
The students are elected to one-year terms during the spring campus election. The faculty/staff are appointed to one-year terms by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and are frequently re-appointed for a second or third year.
Time Commitment
The SORF Board meets five times during the fall and spring semesters to make recommendations on allocations of the SORF fee for each semester. Meetings take place every third Thursday during the academic year and may last 3-6 hours in order to process applications submitted for a particular deadline. The board may also call other meetings as deemed necessary. A mandatory training meeting is held every fall and spring. Due to the nature of this position and the need for consistency in the funding process, please note members who miss more then 3 meetings each year will be removed from the Board.
