Native American House Advisory Committee

The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to review, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding the policies, programs and services of the Native American House. The committee also provides advice and recommendations regarding resources related to the support for the center, including budget, personnel, and facilities.

The committee should seek to enhance the center’s goals of supporting the educational, cultural, social and developmental needs of students, and of advancing multicultural awareness on campus and in the wider community.

Two students from this committee will serve as representatives on the Student Cultural Programming Fee Committee, which is charged with evaluating applications for use of funds generated from the Cultural Programming Fee. That committee will make recommendations for disbursement of those funds to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

Time Commitment

The committee meets once a month. At each meeting, the staff will provide the committee with descriptions of the various programs that have taken place at the center or with the center’s support. In addition, those committee members evaluating applications for the Cultural Programming Fee will meet two or more times a semester for up to three hours per meeting.

Term Limit

Faculty and Staff committee members will serve for a maximum of three consecutive years. Student committee members will be appointed for one academic year, and will have to go through the committee selection process thereafter to serve on the committee again.
